Coleflax Bennett Architecture was approached by the homeowner to create a modern, family home. Inspired by the client’s vision for their own ‘wow project’, we reimagined a previously approved extension scheme to develop a contemporary, context-sensitive proposal that complements the local character.

The two-storey side extension draws on gable-fronted forms found along the street, while the rotated two-storey rear extension better engages the garden and future summerhouse. This rear element includes an open gable, a fully glazed ground floor, and an inset upper floor creating a large balcony to the master bedroom with enhance privacy.

A secondary rear extension facing the proposed garage offers rear access, with a stepped-back first floor to reduce massing and create a roof terrace. Privacy is preserved through the use of timber-look screening elements.

To expand usable space, the roof pitch has been increased to create an additional floor while remaining sympathetic to neighbouring properties. A carefully selected palette of external materials will be used across both new and existing facades to ensure a cohesive and unified appearance.

With Planning permission secured the project is now on site and we look forward to seeing this completed.
